New York State Police have arrested 359 individuals as a result of a months-long crackdown on retail theft.
The state police have been collaborating with multiple agencies since March 16 to combat shoplifting. The issue of retail theft is rapidly increasing and has a significant economic impact.
According to officials, they were able to retrieve over $100,000 worth of stolen items during that period.
Troopers were able to respond to complaints at nearly 500 businesses throughout New York. A staggering 571 separate charges are being faced by the individuals who have been arrested.
