In Miami-Dade County, Florida, police arrested a 19-year-old man on Tuesday morning for shooting a victim at a gas station in southwest Miami-Dade. The shooting occurred after an argument, according to authorities.
According to the Miami-Dade police, Manuel Alejandro Rodriguez had a confrontation with the victim at a Mobil gas station situated at 11900 SW Eighth Street.
At 2 a.m., Rodriguez was paying for gas at the station’s exterior window when the incident began, according to the police.
According to the authorities, an altercation ensued after the victim approached him to inquire about the time.
According to the police, the altercation intensified as the victim hurled a plastic trash can at Rodriguez before walking away.
The victim, who was reported to be unarmed and not posing any immediate danger, was met with aggression from Rodriguez, who brandished a firearm in response.
According to reports, Rodriguez was confronted by the victim who shouted, “Do it if you’re going to shoot me.”
The victim was hit in the hip by a single shot fired by Rodriguez, who then fled the scene according to authorities.
According to an arrest report, the victim received medical treatment for a gunshot wound at Jackson South Medical Center.
Rodriguez was apprehended at his home after authorities identified him through a photo lineup.
According to jail records, he has been charged with a single count of attempted second-degree murder.
Rodriguez remains in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Thursday, with his bond yet to be determined.
