In early April, a man was tragically shot and killed near Strike Ten Bowling in Hallandale Beach, Florida. The police have now identified the woman responsible for this fatal shooting.
Hallandale Beach police reported that the incident allegedly originated from a prior altercation in Miami Gardens.
Brianna Jameelah Purcell, a 29-year-old convicted felon, is currently serving time at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County for unrelated robbery charges.
On April 3, Latoya Arnold, a 36-year-old woman, was tragically shot and killed at The Village at Gulfstream Park, according to the Hallandale Beach police.
Authorities received reports about a shooting around 1:30 a.m. and promptly responded to the 800 block of Silks Run near Strike Ten Bowling.
Local 10 News acquired body camera footage on Monday showing police responding to the scene of a shooting.
According to authorities, Purcell had a previous altercation with Arnold, and they suspect that several individuals were involved in the incident.
According to the police, the body cam footage captures the scene of chaos and distress as the police arrived, with screams heard in the background.
According to Local 10 News reporter Rosh Lowe, Hallandale Beach police Capt. Aaron Smith stated in April that he did not consider the shooting to be a hate crime and believed it to be an isolated incident.
In April, the police stated that the suspect and the victim had a prior acquaintance, but they have yet to determine the motive for the shooting.
Purcell will be extradited to Broward County, where authorities plan to hold her without bond. She is anticipated to face a murder charge in the county.
