A driver who fled the scene struck a moped rider, leading to the victim being taken to the hospital by rescue crews, according to the police.
The hit-and-run incident on the 200 block of Northwest 191st Street in Miami Gardens was promptly attended to by the Miami Gardens Police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units. They arrived at the scene shortly after 9:15 p.m. on Thursday.
According to investigators, a white Honda struck the victim while they were riding a moped. Detectives reported that the driver of the Honda fled in an unknown direction.
The rider with severe injuries was rushed to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital by paramedics.
The police officers conducted a temporary closure of the northbound lanes while they thoroughly searched the scene. The investigation is still in progress.
