Miami-Dade Police have made an arrest following a viral video that captured an employee of a mobile pet grooming business kicking a dog.
The incident took place on or around August 12th at 1700 Northeast 191st Street in Hialeah, as reported by Miami-Dade Animal Services. The pet owner was unaware that their dog had been kicked until they were contacted by authorities. The abuse was captured on a residential doorbell camera, which led to the report being filed on Tuesday.
According to Miami-Dade police, the owner of Deluxe Mobile Pet Grooming stated that he promptly fired Yumar-Gonzalez and would fully cooperate with the investigation.
In a statement on Instagram, the company expressed its apology and emphasized its strict stance against animal abuse. They also assured that they are taking significant actions in collaboration with the authorities to address the issue.
The suspect voluntarily turned himself in and made a complete confession, according to the police, with the assistance of the business owner.
The video captured the dog’s encounter with a veterinarian, who confirmed that the dog did not suffer any significant physical harm from the incident.
Yumar-Gonzalez has been granted a bond of $500.
