In southern Miami-Dade County, a 37-year-old woman has been arrested for the murder of a 44-year-old man that took place almost four years ago.
Detective Melanie Ginoris recently requested an arrest warrant based on Luz “Lucy” Ozuna’s statement. According to Ozuna, she was present at the crime scene during the shooting on September 18, 2020.
According to the warrant, the video footage obtained from the residence confirmed that she was outside of the residence with another individual. Detective Ginoris, a Miami-Dade homicide detective since 2021, wrote this information.
Police report that Bullard was fatally shot on September 5, 2020, at approximately 2:30 a.m. The incident took place at 14741 Harrison St. in Richmond Heights.
According to Ginoris, the witness who reportedly discovered Bullard’s body was interviewed by homicide investigators. The witness had called 911 and stated that they had gone to the residence to buy narcotics.
Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Laura María González-Marqués issued the arrest warrant for Ozuna without bond on Sunday, following Ginoris’s request, as per records.
According to Ginoris, the evidence presented in the case included cell phone data and communication through the TextNow app.
Ozuna was apprehended by police officers on Tuesday morning at a residence in Florida City, near Northwest Eighth Avenue and 14th Street.
Ozuna was taken into custody by Miami-Dade correctional officers at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Tuesday evening and she is currently still there as of Wednesday.
Ozuna has been charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit armed home invasion robbery, and armed home invasion. On Wednesday, her defense team submitted a written plea of not guilty.
The court scheduled her pre-trial detention hearing for Thursday at 9:30 a.m. and her arraignment on September 10 at 9:30 a.m. County Circuit Judge Zachary N. James will be presiding over the case.
