A mother who is facing charges for the alleged murder of her 3-year-old twins made an appearance in Miami-Dade court on Friday.
Shirlene Alcime, 43, faces charges of aggravated manslaughter for the deaths of Milendhet and Milendhere Napoleon-Cadet.
She had not been physically present in court since their deaths, until now.
In February, Alcime allegedly leaped off an overpass near the Golden Glades interchange. When authorities responded to the scene, they discovered the twins in a car, exhibiting symptoms of foaming at the mouth.
The children were later declared deceased at a nearby hospital. The authorities have yet to disclose the exact cause of their demise.
Alcime, a resident of North Miami Beach, underwent a lengthy recovery process following the jump. She entered a plea of not guilty during her court appearance on Friday.
