Police are currently investigating a potential shooting incident in Northwest Miami-Dade.
An investigation is currently underway following a tragic incident at a home in Northwest Miami-Dade. On Saturday morning, a man and woman lost their lives in what appears to be a murder-suicide.
According to CBS News Miami, Miami-Dade Police received a distress call regarding a shooting incident at 12460 W. Randall Dr. at approximately 8:30 a.m. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a 40-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman with visible gunshot injuries. The authorities promptly cordoned off the area, and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue was called for assistance. Tragically, both individuals succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
The police mentioned that they have three children, aged 9, 13, and 15, who were present inside the house when the shooting occurred. One of the children made the 911 call.
According to CBS News Miami, the police have stated that the children are receiving assistance from other family members. As a precautionary measure, the youngest child has been taken to the hospital accompanied by their grandfather.
“I’m relieved to hear that the children are safe,” exclaimed Donna Williams, a concerned neighbor, as a group of residents gathered at the scene to assess the situation.
Williams expressed her surprise at the scene, stating that she had never witnessed such an event in that particular area before.
During the investigation, law enforcement authorities observed that there was no documented record of domestic violence prior to the incident. CBS News Miami reported that the police found it to be a challenging situation, emphasizing that such heartbreaking events should never occur.
“We have numerous ways in today’s society to prevent incidents like this,” expressed Detective Andre Martin of the Miami-Dade Police. “We strongly urge individuals in any form of domestic relationship that has become or may become violent to seek assistance. Domestic violence injunctions serve as an effective means to address such concerns.”
