In Miami, a man, aged 38, was apprehended by authorities following his involvement in an explicit act captured on surveillance video as he peered through an apartment window.
Miami Police reported that a suspect named Alexander Perez Piloto was caught on video engaging in inappropriate behavior. The footage showed him placing his hand inside his pants and touching himself while peering through the window of an apartment.
According to the police, there was a 30-year-old woman along with her three children, aged 10, 8, and 6, inside the apartment at the time.
According to the family, Perez Piloto was caught on surveillance cameras while the 6-year-old daughter was getting changed in the living room.
Jose Larrynaga, the father, revealed that his daughter now sleeps with her parents out of fear.
Larrynaga expressed his distrust for those individuals, emphasizing that they should face the consequences dictated by the law.
Perez Piloto escaped from the scene in a black Honda Civic car after being surprised by a sudden switch-on of a light inside the apartment.
The media widely spread the video footage, which prompted Perez Piloto to surrender himself to Hialeah Police on Monday. He decided to turn himself in after a family member recognized him and confronted him. Subsequently, he was transferred to the City of Miami Police Department.
Officer Michael Vega of the Miami-Dade Police Department shared a heart-wrenching anecdote about a family member of a perpetrator waiting at home for him. Upon his return, the family member confronted him with undeniable evidence, saying, “I see this video, it’s you. You need to turn yourself in.”
According to Perez Piloto, he claimed that he was simply attempting to use the restroom. However, when he was confronted by the officers with the surveillance video, he immediately requested legal representation.
“He attempted to justify his actions by claiming that he was merely trying to urinate and not engaging in any wrongdoing. However, when we confronted him with the video evidence and he sought legal representation, it became clear that he was fully aware of his actions,” stated Vega.
Perez Piloto made his court appearance on Wednesday, facing a range of charges that included burglary of an occupied dwelling and voyeurism. Presently, he is being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
Circuit Court Judge Mindy S. Glazer informed the defendant, “You are being arrested for burglary to an occupied dwelling, as well as four counts of voyeurism. I am of the opinion that there is sufficient evidence to support these charges.”
During their conversation, Glazer provided Perez Piloto with a simple lesson that he could take with him.
“He should refrain from trespassing on other people’s property and respect the privacy of others,” she remarked.
Perez Piloto received an order to maintain distance from the victims. In the event of his release, he will be placed under house arrest and monitored with an ankle bracelet.
Authorities are still investigating the case and are urging anyone with any additional information to come forward.
