Authorities have apprehended a suspect believed to be involved in the armed robbery and murder of an employee at murder of a North Miami Beach smoke shop . The incident, which was captured on camera, has finally resulted in an arrest.
William Robinson, a 22-year-old man, was taken into custody on Tuesday for the alleged crimes of first-degree murder and armed robbery. According to an arrest warrant, Robinson is accused of killing Salem Albakri, a 35-year-old individual, on June 11.
The authorities declared him deceased at the location. The entire incident that resulted in his death was captured by surveillance cameras.
Four males entered the store and approached Albakri in the footage, requesting to see multiple pieces of merchandise.
During the incident, Albakri found himself facing a critical moment when one of the suspects reached into the front pocket of his red hooded sweatshirt and brandished a firearm, directing it towards him.
Albakri caught sight of the gun and immediately attempted to escape towards the back of the business. However, the assailant swiftly fired a single shot, striking Albakri in the back, as detailed in the warrant.
According to the warrant, the suspects made a swift exit from the establishment, however, Robinson managed to seize a sizable jar believed to hold marijuana before making his escape.
According to the warrant, Robinson was captured on video placing his hand on the glass counter while examining the merchandise. Investigators successfully obtained fingerprints from the counter, which were later verified to belong to Robinson.
According to the warrant, detectives utilized a surveillance photo and submitted it to a facial recognition program, which confirmed Robinson’s identity as one of the suspects.
During a records check, it was discovered that Robinson had been arrested in Miami Beach on September 12, 2023. The officer who apprehended him was able to confirm his identity through surveillance footage and body-worn camera footage from the arrest in 2023, as stated in the warrant.
According to records, Robinson was taken into custody and held without bond in jail.
It is unclear whether the authorities have identified or arrested any of the other suspects.
