On Thursday evening, a tragic incident occurred on Interstate 75 in Miami-Dade as a tractor-trailer driver lost their life in a fiery crash.
According to officials from the Florida Highway Patrol, a tractor-trailer veered off the roadway in the southbound lanes of I-75 near Miami Gardens Drive. The vehicle hit a guardrail before colliding with two structural pillars of the overpass, resulting in a crash.
According to FHP officials, the driver unfortunately lost their life at the scene after being unable to escape the flames when the tractor-trailer caught fire. Authorities have not yet disclosed the driver’s identity.
As the cameras captured, a massive inferno raged on the median of the highway. The cause of the blaze was a flatbed tractor-trailer that had collided, carrying what seemed to be dumpsters. The accident left debris scattered all over the road.
The firefighters who arrived on the scene promptly put out the fire.
Due to the collision, the southbound express lanes had to be shut down, leading to a disturbance in the rush hour traffic. The engineers from the Florida Department of Transportation evaluated the overpass damage.
