In Florida City, a homeless man from South Florida is now facing multiple felony charges for carjacking a man at knifepoint.
The incident took place last Friday around 6:14 p.m. just outside the Florida City Home Depot at 33001 South Dixie Highway.
Leandre Snow, a 26-year-old suspect, allegedly approached the victim while he was driving his grey Honda CRV. The suspect was carrying a knife and got in the passenger side of the car. He demanded that the victim drive south on US-1 and then south on Cardsound Road. The police reported this incident.
According to law enforcement officials, the perpetrator regained consciousness and was aided by a kind individual who transported him to a nearby gas station where he was able to request assistance.
According to police, Snow was driving the victim’s Honda CRV when officers tried to stop him. However, he fled the scene and abandoned the car while it was still in motion. The car ended up colliding with a parked vehicle in the 700 block of West Palm Drive in Homestead.
Upon apprehending Snow, law enforcement officials discovered a silver knife in his possession.
According to reports, the individual informed the officers that he had consumed drugs and was subsequently transported to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
