The incident occurred around 4 p.m. in the 1200 block of West Avenue, close to the Mondrian Hotel.

Chopper 6’s aerial footage revealed a significant police presence in the vicinity, resulting in the closure of several streets.

According to Miami Beach Police spokesperson Chris Bess, there were reports of a man on his balcony pointing a rifle at condominium buildings and people passing by.

SWAT negotiators arrived at the scene, taking swift action to establish a secure perimeter.

After the SWAT negotiators successfully de-escalated the situation, the man surrendered without any further incident.

According to Bess, the man, who was later determined by the police to be going through a medical crisis, will be subjected to the Baker Act. However, his identity has not been made available.

There were no reported injuries.
