The police are currently investigating an assassination attempt on a candidate for the Opa-locka city commission.
A man was arrested on Wednesday night for allegedly attempting to assassinate a candidate for Opa-locka city commissioner in Miami.
According to arrest documents, Anthony Mitchell, aged 50, has been taken into custody for the charge of attempted murder against Chris Davis.
Shortly after 10 p.m., Opa-locka police received a call regarding a battery in progress at 2270 Burlington St. Upon arrival, officers encountered Davis, Mitchell, and another individual, all of whom had sustained minor injuries and scratches.
According to the arrest documents, Davis explained that he engaged in a physical altercation with the two men, which eventually led to shots being fired. Additionally, Davis informed the police that he discovered a bullet hole on the driver’s side door of his car.
Mitchell has been arrested and charged, and is scheduled to make a court appearance on Friday.
