When Walter Arrington was 20 years old, records indicate that deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office confiscated his iPhone in Miami.
Forensic investigators from the BSO and the Miami-Dade Police Department have thoroughly analyzed the data.
Miami-Dade detectives have linked Arrington, who is now 24 years old, to a murder that took place in southern Miami-Dade in 2020.
Detective Melanie Ginoris recently requested an arrest warrant based on the cell site data records recovered, which indicated that Mr. Arrington was present at the scene at the time of the shooting and the subsequent death of the victim.
John Bullard, 44, was tragically shot in the chest during a home invasion at 14741 Harrison St., in Richmond Heights around 2:30 a.m. on September 5, 2020, according to police detectives.
The arrest warrant states that homicide investigators spoke with the 911 caller who arrived at the house to buy drugs. Detective Ginoris, who has been with the Miami-Dade homicide division since 2021, provided this information.
On September 18, 2020, investigators identified Luz “Lucy” Ozuna, who claimed to have been present at the crime scene during the shooting.
Ozuna and Arrington communicated with each other through the TextNow app, according to records presented as evidence in the case.
Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Laura María González-Marqués granted Ginoris’s request and issued arrest warrants for Ozuna and Arrington.
On Tuesday in Florida City, police officers took Ozuna into custody. As for Arrington, he was arrested at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday near Southwest 254 Street and 135 Court, in Miami-Dade’s Princeton area.
Shortly after 1:40 a.m. on Thursday, Miami-Dade correctional officers booked Arrington at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
