The man and woman found dead in a Hialeah apartment on Tuesday have been identified by the police. It appears to be a case of murder-suicide.
Hialeah Police disclosed on Wednesday that Clifford Renard Murray III and Rosemary Gutierrez were in a romantic relationship and residing together with their 3-year-old son.
Hialeah Police responded to a domestic-related incident at the home when the woman’s sister visited the apartment as she hadn’t heard from her in days.
No one answered when she knocked on the front door, but she could hear her nephew crying inside. Concerned, she immediately called the police.
The officers had to forcefully enter the apartment in order to gain access. Once inside, they discovered the presence of two lifeless bodies.
The police said that although the boy was found uninjured, he was taken to the hospital as a precaution. According to neighbors, he appeared dirty and they kindly offered him some water.
A resident in the area reported hearing gunfire on Saturday morning but chose not to alert the authorities as she couldn’t determine the exact source of the shots.
The police have not disclosed the duration for which the toddler was left unattended or the exact time of his parents’ demise.
“We are currently in the midst of interviewing additional neighbors and gathering information regarding cellphone usage to gain a clearer understanding of when the incident took place. However, it is evident that the child was inside the home when this incident occurred. Therefore, our primary focus at the moment is ensuring the well-being of the child,” stated Lt. Eddie Rodriguez.
The Florida Department of Children and Families is currently responsible for the well-being of the young boy.
According to NBC6, neighbors described the couple as very quiet and private individuals who had been residing in the neighborhood for several years.
Detectives were visible at the scene, conducting their investigation.
