The ex-boyfriend of a 16-year-old girl has been charged as an adult for fatally shooting and killing her mother in Homestead last month.
On Monday, prosecutors declared that Eli Shinhoster will be charged as an adult for first-degree murder in the shooting of Eulalia Gonzalez on June 27th.
The arrest report states that Shinhoster singled out Gonzalez, who is a mother of four, as a target, following the end of his romantic relationship with her 18-year-old daughter.
Helicopter transport brought the victim to Jackson South Medical Center, but she sadly passed away from her wounds.
Shinhoster left the scene after the incident, but authorities eventually caught up with him.
According to the report, Shinhoster’s relationship with Gonzalez’s daughter had ended nine months before the shooting took place.
According to the report, Shinhoster had been in contact with Gonzalez regarding her daughter and had issued threats towards the daughter. He warned her that she couldn’t be with anyone else if she wasn’t with him.
Authorities had planned to move Shinhoster from the Juvenile Detention Center in Miami-Dade to the adult jail.
