According to officials from the Florida Highway Patrol, a tragic incident occurred in Miami Lakes early Friday, resulting in the loss of a woman’s life. The incident involved a wrong-way crash on the Palmetto Expressway.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. when the driver of a white Hyundai sedan was traveling in the wrong direction on the northbound lanes near Northwest 154th Street.
The driver of the Hyundai was killed at the scene when she collided with a northbound silver Toyota sedan, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The woman driving the Toyota was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center due to her serious injuries.
Officials have not disclosed the identities of those involved.
The northbound lanes of State Road 826 were temporarily closed for four hours, until they were reopened at approximately 6:30 a.m.
