The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reported that a fisherman stumbled upon a package containing 25 bricks of suspected cocaine off the north coast of Key Largo at around 9:45 a.m. on Sunday.
Summer in the Florida Keys has been a witness to the discovery of a significant amount of cocaine in its waters for the third time.
According to the U.S. Border Patrol, a boater discovered a whopping sixty-five pounds of cocaine with a street value of over $1 million floating at sea off the coast of the Florida Keys last month.
In June, scuba divers discovered around 25 kilograms of suspected cocaine that were individually wrapped. The discovery was made in the Atlantic Ocean at a depth of approximately 100 feet.
