Miami-Dade County court records reveal that Elder Cruz, who is 51 years old, has been charged with attempted felony murder causing injury while armed, grand theft involving a firearm, and discharging a firearm in a recreational or residential area.

The Coconut Grove neighborhood was the site of the shooting, which took place directly east of Douglas Park and Coral Gables Hospital.

As per the arrest report obtained by the Miami-based ABC affiliate WPLG, the incident took place on Saturday night.

Police reportedly said that they received reports of a shooting with a victim at a residence on Southwest 31st Place and promptly arrived at around 11 p.m. Upon their arrival, the victim was discovered with four gunshot wounds.

Law enforcement officials have reported that the victim, who has been identified only as Salinas, sustained a gunshot wound in his right wrist and three gunshot wounds in his left thigh. The perpetrator, Cruz, was present at the crime scene when the police arrived. Notably, Cruz was also the roommate of the victim.

Law & Crime has covered a wide range of legal cases, including the recent case where a judge went beyond the prosecutors’ requested sentence for an “execution” murder over a parking space.

According to police reports, the dispute between the two individuals stemmed from a disagreement over a parking spot. Apparently, the victim requested Cruz to relocate his vehicle, but the defendant refused, citing the lack of available parking spots. He insisted on leaving his vehicle in its current position, leading to an argument between the two men.

According to reports, the dispute eventually shifted to a discussion about gender.

According to the police report, Salinas spoke to Cruz in Spanish and questioned why he was trying to act tough when his wife was the one running the household.

A recent report by Law&Crime has revealed that a woman from Florida allegedly used “maximum strength” bear spray on her sister and a one-year-old boy during an argument over a parking space. The incident has caused concern and shock among local residents.

According to reports, the individual who was being threatened with the weapon, gave in to the attacker and begged, “Please don’t do this, you’re going to end my life.”

According to the police, the firearm utilized in the shooting had been reported stolen in 2021.

After the incident, the injured party was immediately taken to the Ryder Trauma Center in Jackson Memorial Hospital. Meanwhile, the perpetrator was apprehended right on the spot by the authorities.

At present, Cruz is in the custody of the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and has legal representation. He is being held without bond.

According to court records, the prosecution requested and received pretrial detention for the defendant. Additionally, the judge ordered that the defendant refrain from contacting the victim until the trial. It was also determined that Cruz is not indigent, which suggests that he may not have access to a public defender, at least for now.
