The aftermath of Hurricane Debby continues to challenge crews as they grapple with the damage in Bryan County, Georgia. Despite the storm dissipating, the impact it had on the area is still evident.
After making landfall in Florida as a hurricane on August 5th, the storm proceeded to wreak havoc for almost a week. It unleashed tornadoes and caused extensive flooding, resulting in damages to homes and tragic loss of life along the East Coast. Finally, on Saturday, the storm made its way into Canada.
Fortunately, authorities are anticipating a gradual decrease in water levels by next week.
The ongoing flooding in Georgia has prompted Gov. Brian Kemp to declare a state of emergency. In response, he has signed an executive order allowing the Georgia National Guard to deploy troops to aid in the recovery efforts.
The storm has claimed the lives of at least four individuals in Florida and at least one person in Georgia.
