Miami-Dade authorities have arrested a convicted felon for allegedly voting illegally multiple times.
Miami-Dade jail records indicated that 52-year-old Victor Marshall Nash was apprehended on Thursday for two charges of casting votes as an unqualified elector.
The arrest warrant states that in 2000, Nash was taken into custody for committing sexual battery by force with a weapon and kidnapping with a weapon.
According to the warrant, he was found guilty of sexual battery causing no serious injury and received a sentence of one year of community control followed by four years of probation. Additionally, he forfeited his right to vote after entering a guilty plea.
According to the warrant, Nash affirmed that she was not a convicted felon or if she was, her right to vote had been restored when she completed a voter application in 2018.
According to the warrant, he exercised his right to vote on multiple occasions. He successfully obtained a voter ID card and used it to vote in the August 2018 Primary and the November 2018 General Election. In 2020, he voted three times, participating in the Presidential Preference Primary, the Primary Election, and the General Election.
According to the warrant, Nash participated in both the Primary and General Elections held in 2022. However, his provisional ballot was not counted.
In February of 2023, authorities arrested Nash for failing to comply with the sexual offender registration requirement. As a result, he received a sentence of six months of community control.
According to the warrant, in 2023, the Office of Executive Clemency of the state issued a letter certifying that there was no evidence of Nash’s voting rights being reinstated.
Unfortunately, there isn’t much information available about Nash’s situation other than the fact that he was taken into custody and his bond was set at $2,500. It’s unclear whether he has legal representation at this time.
