In Miami-Dade County, Florida, the search for a shooter continues as detectives work tirelessly to solve the case. Meanwhile, a 4-year-old boy who was injured in the incident is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital.
According to police, a quarrel escalated into gunfire outside the young boy’s mobile home in the Tamiami neighborhood of Miami-Dade County on Saturday night. While the boy was in his bedroom, a stray bullet struck him. The outer wall had bullet holes and a window was cracked due to the shooting.
At the University Lakes mobile home community, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel discovered the boy in a “critical but stable” state at around 9 p.m. The incident occurred near Southwest 127 Court and 12 Street.
The boy was quickly transported to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital by fire rescue personnel using an ambulance. Hassell Oprota, the boy’s mother, expressed her relief that they were fortunate this time but worries that they may not be so lucky next time.
Detective Luis Sierra, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade Police Department, expressed gratitude that the child is going to be alright.
According to eyewitnesses, the boy’s parents were not part of the altercation and were present at home with their child. Residents in the vicinity reported that the two individuals involved in the conflict fled the scene. However, law enforcement officials have been called to the area in the past due to similar incidents.
