A 24-year-old woman from Miami was taken into custody on Tuesday following a violent altercation at the residence of another woman, according to authorities.
The suspect’s arrest report states that the incident took place on March 20 in the 200 block of Northwest 52nd Street.
According to the City of Miami police, they received a report of an assault at a residence in the area.
According to the report, the victim informed the officers that she had a long-standing acquaintance with the suspect, Terika Celestine Jones, spanning four years. Recently, she discovered that Jones had engaged in an “intimate relationship” with her ex-boyfriend.
The victim informed Jones to come to her house and retrieve her dog, which she had left behind, as stated in the report.
According to the police, the victim eventually opened the front door, only to have the dog dash out and get hit by a passing vehicle.
The victim informed Jones that she would compensate her for her dog, but Jones responded with aggression, as stated in the report.
The victim, out of fear for what Jones might do, chose to stay inside her home and refused to come out, according to the police.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. However, the impact of the stone shattered the window and caused damage to a dresser located inside the bedroom.
The victim shared Ring footage of the incident with the police, according to authorities.
Jones was later identified in a photo by her as well.
On Tuesday, authorities successfully located and apprehended Jones. He was arrested on multiple charges, including shooting or hurling a deadly projectile and engaging in criminal mischief.
In her arrest report, Jones stated that the victim had taunted her about her deceased dog, which made her angry. Additional statements provided to detectives were omitted from the publicly released report.
Jones is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a bond of $5,650 as of Wednesday afternoon.
