U.S. Marshals deputies apprehended Deshawn “Thorobread” Davis, 36, the alleged assailant, on Monday in Redway, Calif. On May 7, 2023, Davis is suspected of opening fire at a party at the GALA Miami nightclub, resulting in the death of Grissom, a Miami rapper who was also a talent evaluator for Chris Brown Entertainment.

In 2023, Lowell ‘Lo’ Grissom was fatally shot in a gang-related assault at the Gala Miami nightclub in Miami Beach. Deshawn “Thorobread” Davis, 36, the alleged assailant, was apprehended by federal marshals on Monday, August 6, 2024.

Crime Stoppers of the Florida Keys and Miami-Dade According to a news release from the Marshals, Davis, a Canadian national, is also suspected of causing injuries to two women during the incident. The GALA, located at 235 23rd St. in South Beach, was the site of the incident, where the three victims were struck shortly before 4 a.m. on Sunday. Grissom passed away at Jackson’s Ryder Trauma Center, where all three were transported.

The news release stated that Miami Beach police are of the opinion that the murder was a targeted attack with a “gang nexus.” The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office has not specified the date on which Davis will be conveyed for prosecution. Davis was already a fugitive in Canada at the time of the South Florida homicide, according to the U.S. Marshals.

The Ontario Provincial Police charged Davis and two others in February 2023 with the abduction of Elnaz Hajtamiri in January 2022. On the evening of January 12, 2022, Elnaz was abducted from a relative’s residence in Wasaga Beach, Ontario, and subsequently transported in an SUV before vanishing. She has yet to be located.

Murder charges were brought against her former partner. Ronald L. Davis, the Director of the U.S. Marshals Service, issued a statement commending the Marshals Service and its collaborators for the successful capture of Deshawn Davis. “We sincerely hope that this arrest will result in the restoration of justice to his victims and the protection of the community.”

The USMS in the Southern District of Florida and the USMS Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force (FCRFTF), which have been collaborating with Canadian law enforcement agencies to apprehend Davis, executed the Miami Beach Police murder warrant. It was presumed that he was in the United States.
