Drinking water has been the subject of a stern warning by top U.S. officials.
Growing up in the City of Newburgh, any news related to the safety of drinking water is always daunting.
The City Of Newburgh Water Contaminated
Residents of the City of Newburgh were informed in May 2016 that their drinking water supply had been tainted with PFOS, a man-made chemical also known as perfluorooctane sulfonate.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently updated the lifetime drinking water health advisory level, and the PFOS levels in Newburgh water have exceeded it.
The chemical PFOS has the potential to be toxic.
Research indicates that if a person is exposed to PFOS levels beyond a certain threshold, they may experience negative health consequences. These adverse effects could include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, kidney cancer, testicular cancer, liver damage, low birth weight, and other severe health issues.

The DOH affirmed that the drinking water was safe for consumption. Nevertheless, as a precautionary measure, the authorities of New Windsor decided to close down the Butterhill water source.

Warning About Drinking Water Issued
Governors across the United States, including New York’s Governor Kathy Hochul, received a letter from the EPA and White House regarding the issue of “disabling cyberattacks” that are targeting water and wastewater systems. Such attacks have been observed extensively across the country.
Authorities believe that these assaults have the potential to disturb the essential supply of pure and secure drinking water. Furthermore, they can cause severe financial burdens on the impacted regions.
The blame for recent cyberattacks has been placed on China and Iran. Top U.S. officials assigned blame to Iran and China.
According to recent reports, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of the Iranian Government has carried out multiple cyberattacks targeted towards water systems and other critical infrastructures in the United States. These attacks have been described as “malicious” in nature and are causing significant concern for the security of the country’s infrastructure.
According to the letter, a Chinese group was responsible for compromising the information technology of various critical infrastructure systems in the United States, including those related to drinking water.
Be wary of these animals that are invading New York’s waterways.
