Police have reported that the remains of a missing individual were discovered on Sunday in a vehicle that was submerged in a Broward canal. The human remains were discovered in a canal on the 10100 block of Southwest First Street in Plantation shortly after 12:45 p.m. The body and the vehicle in which it was discovered were recovered from the water with the assistance of police and divers from the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
On Sunday, August 11, 2024, the Broward Police Department’s dive team and medical examiner responded to the scene at 10151 SW 1st St in Plantation, where a car was discovered in a canal with the skeletal remains of adults and children. Joe Cavaretta Joe Cavaretta
Police have yet to disclose the individual’s identity or furnish additional information regarding their disappearance as of Sunday afternoon. A deteriorated older model vehicle is being extracted from the water, as evidenced by the images that were captured at the scene.
Investigators are presently uncertain as to what motivated them to investigate the canal in relation to the missing individual.
