A search operation, which has since evolved into a recovery mission, is currently underway after a woman was reported to have plunged into the Miami River early yesterday morning. The woman is currently missing. The 30-year-old was observed by a man who is believed to be acquainted with her, as she jumped into the river in downtown just before 2:25 a.m.
The search has been significantly impeded by the exceptionally strong river currents that have been present since last night, despite the involvement of Miami Fire Rescue, the U.S. Coast Guard, and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue in the extensive operation that commenced shortly after the incident was reported. According to CBS News Miami, Miami Fire Rescue Lt. Pete Sanchez stated in a statement that the search has been exceedingly challenging due to the exceptionally strong current that has prevailed since Saturday night.
After an initial search that lasted for more than three hours, no trace of the woman was to be found. The relevant authorities, including the Coast Guard and Miami Fire, are conducting the search, which is now known as a recovery mission.
Additional updates are anticipated as the narrative progresses, and the search authorities have refrained from abandoning their endeavors in spite of the challenging circumstances. The Coast Guard and Miami Fire resumed their search later in the morning, which has since evolved into a recovery mission, according to Miami Fire Lt. Pete Sanchez, as reported.
