In Downtown Miami, a man reported that a 30-year-old woman had jumped into the Miami River early Sunday morning, and she has been missing since.
Lt. Pete Sanchez from Miami Fire Rescue reported that a man witnessed a woman he knew jumping into the river.
Following the report at around 2:25 a.m., a search operation was initiated involving the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, U.S. Coast Guard, and MFR.
In a statement, Sanchez expressed the difficulty of the search due to the strong currents since the previous night.
The mission shifted from a search to a recovery effort.
