The ex-boyfriend, who is 16 years old, has been charged with second-degree murder in the shooting that resulted in the death of his ex-girlfriend’s mother in Homestead last month.
Eulalia Gonzalez was fatally shot on June 27, and on Monday, Eli Shinhoster was arraigned for the crime.
Last week, it was announced by prosecutors that the teenager accused of the crime would be transferred from the Juvenile Detention Center to the Miami-Dade County Jail. This decision was made as they decided to charge the alleged killer as an adult.
On Monday, a public defender entered a plea of “not guilty” on behalf of the teenager.
The arrest report reveals that Shinhoster singled out Gonzalez, a mother of four, because her 18-year-old daughter terminated her association with him.
According to the report, Shinhoster had been in a relationship with Gonzalez’s daughter for nine months before the shooting occurred.
According to the report, Shinhoster had been in contact with Gonzalez regarding her daughter and had issued a warning to the daughter, stating that she couldn’t be with anyone else if she wasn’t with him.
Currently, Shinhoster remains incarcerated as he was denied bond.
